Frequently Asked Questions About Sandals Grande Antigua

How Far Is Sandals Grande Antigua From The Airport?

Sandals Grande Antigua is located about 8.5 miles from VC Bird International Airport, the drive is approximately 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. Fellow travel blogger Shine With JL talks about the close proximity of the resort to the airport how it makes it ideal if you don’t want to spend a lot of time with a commute.

What Is The Best Time Of The Year To Visit Antigua?

The best time to visit Antigua is between mid-December and mid-April when it’s peak season, making it the perfect destination to escape wintery conditions in the US or Europe.

A good secondary option is to go to Antigua in May or June. This is the period right after peak season and just before the wet season from July to November. The temperature is usually in the mid-80s.

Can You Swim In The Ocean At Sandals Antigua?

Yes you absolutely can! The ocean there is definitely one of the most clear and beautiful. We traveled in May and the ocean temperature was great too!

Can I request which Mediterranean walkout club level suite PF room I want to be in?

Well, you can certainly call 1-800-SANDALS and request which room you prefer, but remember it is not a guarantee. They do their best to accommodate requests, and if they can’t give you the exact room, they will try to get you close. For reference, our room in this review was room 5005 in the Almonds building.

Where Can I Find The Mediterranean Walkout Club Level Suite PF?

These suites are located on the ground floor of the Cypress(which is the main building) and Almonds(the close annex) buildings. The suites in the Cypress buildings have a few more steps, depending on what end of the building you are at.

We were in the Almonds building, and I can’t recommend that building enough because of the location and the least amount of steps.

This is the view from our patio area. This is not the main entrance to your room, and keep in mind your patio door does not lock from the outside. Your main entrance is on the other side of the building, but it is a short walk. This is the hallway to the main room entrance on the backside of the building,

This photo shows some of the walkouts from the Cypress Tower, as you can see they definitely have more steps.

The Bathroom Area Of The Mediterranean Walkout Club Level Room

Immediately after you enter the room from the main entrance, you will see the bathroom area. I have to tell you that it a large & spacious bathroom. You will find a closet with your in-room safe.

We had more than enough space for our clothing and shoes. Unlike other rooms, there was not enough space to store our suitcases. We were able to do that under our bed, so it wasn’t an issue.

You will also see the toilet area:

I liked that the bathroom toilet had a door that closed off to the rest of the bathroom so that both of us could be in there at the same time.

There was also a large walk-in shower with a rain shower head. Some have mentioned that the water pressure wasn’t adequate, but we had no problem with it during our entire stay.

There is a large soaking tub as well. I don’t know how well it worked because I never used it here. We used it mostly to hang our swimsuits to dry and keep our floats contained.

There are also two sinks and a large vanity area. It was wonderful for getting ready for dinner because we could both be in there at the same time. I do wish the make-up mirror had a stronger light and that they had some LED lighting to make it a bit brighter. But all in all, I think the bathroom in the Mediterranean walkout club level PF room is one of the best out there.

Bedroom and Sitting Area In The Mediterranean Walkout Club Level Suite

I felt that the sleeping and relaxing spaces in this room was really good. Compared to other rooms we have stayed in, the space is quite expansive, and it doesn’t even include the patio area.

First there is a large king-sized bed. I will have to say that these beds are very high, and as a vertically challenged adult, I often had to launch myself in them. But it was soft and comfortable, so I can overlook the mini-Olympics to get in.

There is also a desk area next to the main dresser and TV stand. One thing I have noticed across the board and the many Sandals that we have stayed at is there is just never enough drawer space. Even though we pack lightly, we still have multiple things that need to go in the dresser, and there is never enough for both of us.

Next to the dresser is the stock bar and mini-fridge. Club level rooms just get basic spirits, along with sodas, juices, beer, and water.

Here is my husband checking out what is in our fridge. I have to say, the Club Sandals drink person kept our fridge and bar stocked. We had problems with it at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian, so I was very happy to not have that here.

You will also have a nightstand on the other side of the bed, which is where I plugged in my power strip so I could charge all my items at once, and they were in a convenient location.

We also had a small sitting area with a sofa. Generally it was used for my beach bag, so I can’t comment on its comfort.

And, of course, there is the large patio area. It has the two loungers and a table. There is also a drying rack for your swimsuits. We used it quite frequently. Sometimes you will also have a few visitors on your patio, which we loved. Rest assured, they always stayed outside.

An important thing to know is the walkouts do not have a true covered patio. They are pergolas, so if it rains, you and your things will get wet. And you may see these little rascals climbing on them because that is what cats do.

A Few Final Thoughts:

The next time we go to Sandals Grande Antigua (and there will definitely be a next time), I plan on booking this same room. We loved the location of the room, and the convenience to the main pool area.

Our housekeeper always kept things clean, and very often had our room cleaned before we returned from breakfast. The only possible negative I could say is that we had to call most evenings for washcloths. I believe that they weren’t ready yet by the laundry services, rather than an issue with our housekeeper.

Now you have some idea about the Mediterranean Walkout Club Level PF room available at Sandals Grande Antigua. We absolutely loved our time there, and I will be sharing more about it in the future. But if I had to say one thing, this is definitely a great choice in club level rooms at the resort!
