All About the Sandals Royal Caribbean Nude Beach

While Sandals Royal Caribbean is not one of the clothing-optional all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, it does have a clothing-optional beach.

Sandals Royal Caribbean is a popular all-inclusive adults-only resort located in Montego Bay, Jamaica. What sets it apart is a lush private island, which lies just offshore from the main resort and features several beaches, a pool with swim-up bar, a restaurant, and luxurious overwater bungalows.

The nude beach at Sandals Royal Caribbean is on this island, in an area behind the restaurant that is separated by vegetation and fencing. There is a sign indicating that the area is clothing optional, and it is fairly private although it does face the open sea. There is security on the island that keeps anyone who isn’t a Sandals guest away from it, however.

Since most people don’t go to Sandals for nude sunbathing, there will be a mix of nude, topless, and clothed guests on the beach. The number of other guests in the area ranges depending on the day. It’s not a very large area, so it can get crowded fairly easily.

What about the other locations? Are Sandals resorts clothing optional?

Sandals resorts are not clothing optional resorts, but there has been a growing acceptance of women going topless on the main beaches at Sandals resorts. The official management position is that it’s OK, but if someone is bothered by it, the person going topless may be asked to cover up.

However, note that not only is it not OK to be topless or nude in the rest of the resort areas, the Sandals dress code generally requests that bathing suits be covered up when in the restaurants.

FYI, some people think there is also a beach that is clothing optional at Sandals Royal Bahamian, but The Bahamas has a law against public nudity so this isn’t the case. Barbados, Grenada, and St. Lucia are also not very accepting of public nudity.

If you want to sunbathe in the nude at another Sandals resort, your best bet is to either find a nearby nude beach or book a room with a private outdoor area. There are plenty of room options at Sandals resorts that have these, as well as private pools. These room types include Rondoval suites with private pool sanctuaries, private villas, SkyPool suites, and butler suites with private pool sanctuaries.

Nude beaches can be found near Sandals resorts in Antigua, Negril, and Ocho Rios.
