Beaches Resort in Bloody Bay Jamaica
Did you know Sandals & Beaches Resorts own property in Bloody Bay Jamaica and they have plans to build a Beaches Resort on the property?
Plans were first announced in 2010 for a Beaches Resort to be built on Bloody Bay Beach. Obviously, plans change and things get moved to the back burner to pursue other opportunities, but it has began to come up again in conversation.
When will Beaches Bloody Bay open?
At this point we have no indication of when the resort will start getting built and when that will end. I would be surprised if it happens in the next 5 years since they have so much in the pipeline already.
The next Beaches Resorts to open will be Beaches Runaway Bay and Beaches Exuma and the Beaches Resort in Barbados has also been announced, but with no significant details.
Is Bloody Bay on 7 Mile Beach?
Yes, Bloody Bay is on 7 Mile Beach. It is the northern part of the beach, and has a more peaceful vibe than the southern portion, which is also known as Long Bay. It is a popular spot for relaxing on the sand, swimming and snorkeling in the clear, calm water, and enjoying local food and music.
Why is it called Bloody Bay in Negril?
You might wonder why this beautiful stretch of white-sand beach is called “Bloody Bay.” The answer is that in the 18th and 19th centuries, the area was used for the processing of whales that were caught offshore, making the waters turn red. Now, of course, there’s no evidence of that past history and the water is a clear turquoise.
