What Is The Best Cheese To Use On A Philly Chicken Cheesesteak?
The most popular cheese is mild provolone. We have tested a variety of provolone brands and the only one we didn’t enjoy was “aged” provolone from various stores. The flavor of aged provolone cheese was overpowering. Another popular option is white American cheese. For this particular recipe, it is all about the bleu cheese crumbles!

Ingredient List For Buffalo Philly Chicken Cheesesteaks
It is always great to have a recipe that only has a few ingredients. And when you combine it with a slow cooker, it really is the perfect recipe.
- 2 lbs Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast
- 2 Cups Buffalo Sauce
- 1 oz Dry Ranch Seasoning (1 Packet)
- 1 Stick of Butter (½ cup)
- Hoagie Rolls
- Blue Cheese Crumbles
- Provolone Cheese
How To Make The Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteaks
The first thing you are going to do is place your chicken breasts into your slow cooker.
Next, cover the chicken with the ranch seasoning and then add all of the buffalo sauce to the slow cooker.
Place the butter on top of the ingredients and secure the lid. Cook for 5 hours on low.
If you want the meat to cook quicker, you can switch to the high setting and cook for half the time. However, I have found that this makes the chicken a bit tougher and not as moist.
After 5 hours, shred the chicken thoroughly with 2 forks and mix well. Switch the slow cooker to the warm setting and let it rest for 30 minutes.
When you shred the chicken, it is ready to eat. However, if you let it rest at a lower temperature it will give the chicken time to absorb the sauce. It will also allow the sauce to become a lot creamier as opposed to runny.
Load up the bottom portion of the hoagie with some buffalo chicken and top with blue cheese and provolone, if desired.
Cut in half and enjoy!
