I love Fall! Warm days that remind you of Summer, and crisp, cool nights that are just made for sleeping. And when people think of Fall, pumpkin recipes always come to mind. Today I am sharing one of my favorite copycat recipes that you can make at home.

Common Questions About Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte

Here are some things you may ask yourself before making this recipe:

Is a homemade pumpkin spice latte healthy?

Drinking these drinks on occasion is fine, but they aren’t recommended for daily consumption if you’re trying to maintain good health.

What kind of coffee is in a pumpkin spice latte?

Most commonly, you will find espresso in one of these drinks. As I share below, espresso powder is the perfect substitution if you don’t have your own espresso machine. And, let’s face it, much more cost effective.

What is the best milk to use in a homemade pumpkin spice latte?

As a rule of thumb, we always recommend whole milk first. However, you can substitute any milk that you want. Almond milk is a popular non-dairy choice for this drink, as it is smoother and thicker.

Does frothing milk make it sweeter?

Although milk isn’t actually sweeter when heated, its sweetness is perceived to be sweeter as it gets hotter. If you like the frothy milk, you can get a handheld milk frother so you can make it at home.

What You Need To Know To Make A Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte

Necessary Kitchen Equipment:

  • Stovetop Milk Warmer
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Glass Coffee Mugs

Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of milk (dairy or non-dairy). If you are using regular milk, whole milk is ideal.
  • ¼ cup of concentrated coffee (or 2 shots of espresso).
  • 2 tbsp pumpkin puree. If you prefer to use fresh pumpkin, check out this recipe for homemade pumpkin puree.
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract. Don’t want to use artificial vanilla extract? No worries, there are plenty of homemade vanilla recipes out there.
  • ½ tsp of homemade pumpkin pie spice. If you are in a hurry, you can certainly use store-bought, but I don’t think it has the flavor of homemade.
