Cocktails & Sunsets 03.26.23

Happy Sunday all! Yesterday was one of those absolutely gross kind of days where you think to yourself: will Spring ever get here?!? Non-stop rain, damp & chilly, it was a great day for staying inside with a blanket and a cat on your lap.

Cocktails & Sunsets

Life has been kind of bleh again lately. It’s almost 6 months since my Dad died & we finally have his house sold. It was super stressful, since a lot of things were out of my control. Everything finally caught up with me, and I have been dealing with viral symptoms over the past few days. Probably because I wasn’t taking my immune vitamins, I wasn’t sleeping well, and it caught up to me.

As for the house being sold, it is such a relief. Having that out of my life is such a relief. My parents’ house (and that is how I always have referred to it, even when I still lived at home) was not a warm & happy place for me. To be finally free of it is something I can’t even begin to describe. Maybe now I can start letting go of the past and concentrate on the present and the future.

Speaking of Sandals Ochi, I just wanted to finally talk about what a wonderful time we had celebrating my 50th birthday in Jamaica. I will never truly be able to thank hubby for indulging my whim to spend my milestone birthday at a Sandals Resort. I mean, when you see a view like this, it is hard to be sad about turning a year older.

And, of course, my Sandals cat friends.

Hubs and I had a great time resting & relaxing. Eating good food and having some delicious drinks. We also achieved another Sandals milestone by moving up to Emerald status. I was able to some great snorkeling right from the beach.

It was an absolutely wonderful trip. I felt happy and rested and ready to tackle life again. I am definitely planning another trip back to Sandals Ochi soon!

Today also marks one of my favorite countdown milestones! Can you guess?

Wildwood countdown blocks

If you have followed my blog at all, you know exactly how much I love our beach vacations to Wildwood. If you are new here, welcome! Wildwood is our family vacation we go to with my IL’s. Since June 1999, we have been going every Summer. Of course, 2020 was the exception to this. Can we just forget 2020?!?

In any case, I am so excited that we have reached the 3-month mark. Be sure to check back over the next couple of months as I share about my favorite places. I also generally post on Instagram, so you can follow along there too!

As you can see, I have already started my planning process.

In case you didn’t notice, I have an absolute obsession when it comes to countdown planning stickers. Check out these cute ones too!! I think planning for the trip can be just as fun as going on the trip, that is for sure.

I had these stickers custom made on Etsy, and she included all our favorite places we visit and enjoy. If you look closely, she also made some for our upcoming trip to Barbados.

Speaking of Barbados, I am absolutely ecstatic that we are inching closer to our first visit of this island. Having been to Jamaica several times, and Antigua & St. Lucia, I am truly excited about experiencing a new island.

We are doing something new for this trip. Flying into Barbados a day early so we can get a good night’s sleep before heading to Sandals. Be sure to follow along in July as we head out for a week.

So that’s my update for what’s going on in my life. I am working on some travel posts from previous locations, and hope to get them up on the site shortly. Check back or subscribe to email to stay up-to-date.
